Pomodoro means tomato in italian, because the guy behind it, Francesco Cirillo, is italian and also because he thought about it with one of those kitchen timer shaped as a tomato. I'm not gonna explained the whole technique, everything is here. After trying it several times, what I appreciate the most of this method is the way it helps handling interruptions like phone calls or questions from colleagues. It is very helpful and makes an impressive difference, even on a 25min session of work.
The Pomodoro Technique
I've always had problems to stay focused during my studies and also at work. But a few months ago, during the jFokus conference in Stockholm, i discovered the Pomodoro Technique, a time management technique.

Yeah, this is a good one!
Malin BerdetteSo much easier to stay focused during a short amount of time.
I suggest that you let the links open in a new tab though.
Great suggestion, I didn't realize it, thanks.
NicolasIf you are after a free online pomodoro timer, Focus Booster Live is a handy option. try it here: http://www.focusboosterapp.com/live...
It has the 25 minute count down and then the 5 minute break. You have the option to set the kitchen timer ticking sound and session end rings. Simple, stylish and always there when you need it.
GavinTalking about applications. I use Pomzen from www.whitetailedeagle.com. The program is a java web start so it can be used on my Ubuntu linux desktop maschine as well as on Windows platform. It also keeps track of how many Pomodori you finish on average per day.
